Anxiety had taken hold of my mind, it spiralled into panic attacks, and my body followed. Eventually leaving me unable to walk far or stand for long. At one point, I was basically bed-ridden—just getting myself to the bathroom was all I could manage. Doctors gave me a name for it—Myoclonus—but no answers.
Back then, therapy wasn’t an option in my world. In the Black community, talking about mental health felt like airing dirty laundry. But I knew I had to find a way to heal. So, I turned to what I’ve loved since I was five years old— books. I devoured everything I could find on the mind-body connection, healing trauma, and finding peace. I journaled relentlessly. I practiced CBT, affirmations, yoga, Tai Chi. And slowly, I found my way back to myself.
I Haven’t Had A Panic Attack Since 2001.
That journey has become the foundation of my work. I no longer offer coaching, but I pour everything I’ve lived and learned into self-development journals created especially for people who are often overlooked in mainstream wellness spaces. From exploring body image and weight gain through a Black lens, to unpacking anxiety and trauma, to helping Black parents stay grounded—my journals are tools for healing, clarity, and realignment.
But This Is Just The Beginning.
This sanctuary is expanding. My blog dives even deeper, tackling the layers that shape how we see ourselves and each other.
I’m not here to preach perfection. I’ve lived through the messiness, the fear, the silence. I don’t believe in perfect people. But I do believe in people who are committed to growing.
